“My name is Courtney White, I am the former band director at Thomas Viaduct Middle School in Howard County where I had been teaching for five years. Music is a huge passion of mine, one that has been building since I was very young and I am very excited to work with you during your private lessons!”

Courtney is a graduate from Lebanon Valley College with a Bachelors of Science in Music Education; with her primary instruments being clarinet and bass clarinet.  She currently resides in northern Frederick County with her husband and daughter. Courtney is a large advocate of student success and strengths, and wants the best for each of her students. She strives to make music learning fun while also being efficient with the time allotted. The goal is always to create a family atmosphere, so the parents and the musician(s) feel excited and comfortable in each of their lessons.

private lessons

In person and virtual private lessons 100% customized to your needs and goals, in a fun and nurturing learning environment.

In Person Lessons

During our in person lessons students will gain a better understanding of musicality, music theory, sight reading, audition techniques, performance, tone quality etc. We will focus on solos and any other music you may want to work on (music from school or another ensemble) as well as prep for any extra curricular performance opportunities.

In person lessons provide an ideal way of learning music and listening. These types of lessons allow for individual and duet performances while also fostering a deeper understanding of musical expression, achieved through in person performances.

Virtual Lessons

During our virtual lessons students will gain a better understanding of musicality, music theory, sight reading, audition techniques, performance, tone quality etc. We will focus on solos and any other music you may want to work on (music from school or another ensemble) as well as prep for any extra curricular performance opportunities.

Virtual lessons provide a different type of learning that is sometimes helpful for those who are not fully comfortable playing in front of someone. This option allows for the student to play their instrument from the comfort of their own home.

Testimonials

“ Mrs White (music band mom) is my favorite teacher and music mentor. I know she is an excellent music tutor too. From 6th grade and beyond she has mentored me through 2 scored superior State Solo Festivals, 3 successful Honors Band auditions, 3 successful Regional Repertory Wind Ensemble auditions, concerts and more. But above all she is well structured, makes learning fun and has great techniques which makes it easy to get inspired. I rate Mrs. Courtney White a “Superior “ for music tutoring/mentor”

Darius Theodore

I had the opportunity to have Mrs. White as a teacher for three years in middle school. Even before she was officially my teacher, I knew I would love her from all the wonderful stories I got from my older brother. She never gave up and always helped, and pushed each one of her students to be the best they can. She is one of the most dedicated, fun and caring people I know, and wants nothing more than to help you achieve your fullest potential. I couldn’t recommend someone more to provide their expertise with both music and teaching to further your musical skills.
